A self-paced workshop for parents of teens
Just $49 · Instant access
For the parent who misses their kid — even though they’re still right there in the house.

“My teen pulls away. I push harder. They shut down more. I just want my kid back.”

You Didn’t Get a Manual
for the Teen Years. Here’s the Next Best Thing.

This workshop gives you the science behind what’s happening in your teen’s brain — so the power struggles, the silence, and the shutting down finally make sense. And once it makes sense, you stop reacting and start reconnecting. That’s the shift. That’s how you get your kid back.

Does any of this sound familiar?
😮‍💨
You feel like you’re walking on eggshells — never sure which version of your teen you’re going to get.
💔
They’re pulling away, and you’re not sure if you should give space or fight harder to stay connected.
🤯
Their reactions feel SO big and SO disproportionate — and you wonder if you’re doing something wrong.
😩
You snap, lecture, or shut down — and then feel guilty. You want to respond better but don’t know how.
🔍
You keep searching for answers but nothing feels quite right — too soft, too harsh, or just too vague.
You worry that if you don’t figure this out soon, you’ll miss a critical window with your kid.
Friend, take a breath.
You’re not failing.
You’re just missing a few key pieces.

Parenting a teen is legitimately hard — not because you’re doing it wrong, but because the teen years are a season unlike any other. Your kid’s brain is literally under construction. Their emotions are supercharged. And the world they’re navigating is more complex and pressure-filled than anything we faced at their age.

When you understand the why behind your teen’s behavior, everything shifts. The eye rolls, the moodiness, the pushing back — it stops feeling like a personal attack and starts feeling like what it actually is: a kid doing the hard, important work of becoming their own person.

This workshop gives you that understanding — plus the practical tools to actually use it.

Is this for you?

What you’ll learn
Inside the Workshop

Four core video modules — each building on the last so the ideas truly stick.

01
🧠 Teen Brains: What’s Really Going On

The prefrontal cortex won’t fully develop until the mid-20s. The emotional brain is running full speed. Sleep and stress hit differently. This section explains the neuroscience in plain language so you can stop taking their behavior personally and start responding from a place of real understanding.

02
🌿 What’s Normal (And What You Can Exhale About)

Independence-seeking, emotional volatility, social obsession, boundary-testing — these aren’t character flaws. This module walks you through every “alarming” behavior and reframes it as exactly what it is: healthy adolescent development in action.

03
🌍 Why Parenting Teens Today Is Especially Hard

Social media, achievement pressure, mental health challenges, shifting norms — your teen is navigating a world you didn’t grow up in. This module helps you understand the specific pressures they’re facing so you can show up with empathy instead of frustration.

04
🛠 How You Can Help: Tools That Actually Work

From staying regulated yourself, to setting boundaries with empathy, to playing the long game — this module is packed with Positive Discipline-rooted strategies you can start using today. Connection, curiosity, consistency. This is your roadmap.

Your guide
Hi, I’m Casey O’Roarty 👋

I’m a Positive Discipline Lead Trainer, parent coach, host of the Joyful Courage Podcast, and the founder of Sproutable. I’ve been working with parents since 2007 — and in that time, I’ve learned that information alone doesn’t change behavior. That’s why this workshop pairs the why with the how.

I also have two young adult kids, which means I didn’t just study the teen years — I lived them. The chaos, the big emotions, the moments of thinking I was completely failing. The tools I teach aren’t just theory; they’re the exact things that helped my family come through those years with our relationship not just intact, but stronger.

You are the perfect parent for your child. This workshop will help you trust that.

Frequently Asked Questions
My teen is still pretty young — is it too early for this? +
Not at all! Parents who come to this work earlier often tell me they wish they’d had it sooner. If your child is anywhere close to the teen years, this information will help you get ahead of the curve and build the right foundation now — before the bigger challenges arrive.
We’re already deep in the teen years. Is it too late? +
It is never too late to shift the dynamic with your teen. Parents in the thick of it often see the biggest breakthroughs — because they can immediately apply what they’re learning to real situations happening right now. The tools in this workshop work at any stage of adolescence.
What if I don’t have a lot of time? +
This workshop is designed to be digestible. Most parents complete it in a focused afternoon or spread it across a weekend. Because you have lifetime access, you can go at whatever pace works for your life. Even one module will give you something meaningful to bring into your next conversation with your teen.
Is this the same as the Positive Discipline books? +
This workshop is rooted in Positive Discipline principles, but it’s not a textbook. The framework comes to life through relatable examples, honest personal stories, and practical tools you can actually use. New to PD? Great entry point. Already familiar? You’ll love how it applies specifically to the teen years.
What if I want more support after the workshop? +
There’s always a next step! After the workshop you can explore the Living Joyful Courage Membership for ongoing community and coaching, one-on-one coaching directly, and the Joyful Courage Podcast for weekly support. You’re never on this journey alone.
Your teen needs a gardener,
not a warden.

The seeds you plant now — through connection, curiosity, and a little more understanding — are the roots that will hold your relationship together for years to come. Let’s get growing.
